Named as one of Ski Magazine’s “10 Best Mountains You’ve Never Skied,” and ranked among National Geographic’s “World’s 25 Best Ski Towns”, Fernie Alpine Resort has a lot to boast about. With its vast alpine bowls, consistent powder and general lack of crowds, it’s most certainly one of British Columbia’s best kept skiing secrets.
With ski season just around the corner, it’s time to start getting ready for another fantastic year on the slopes. Here are some important dates to mark on your calendar:
Save on a Season Pass Before Oct. 19
There are just a few days left to get a discount on your season pass to Ferine Alpine Resort. But even if you miss the boat on the discount, Ferine still offers great value for world-class skiing when compared with other major resorts.
If you’re in the market for new skis, boots or any kind of winter gear, don’t miss the FAST Annual Ski Swap on November 8th and 9th at the Fernie Community Centre (901 6th Ave.). If you’ve got old gear that’s still good, you can sell it and get something new. There will be some fantastic deals to be had on lightly used ski and snowboard equipment. 20% of the day’s sales will be donated to the Fernie Alpine Ski Team. Bring cash for easy transactions.
While you’re at the Fernie Community Centre for the Ski Swap on Nov. 9, you can check out the Fernie Ski and Board Film Fest. The event features 3 film screenings—at 6:30pm, 8:30pm and 10:30 pm—along with prize draws, pizza and popcorn. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for kids, which includes admission to all 3 films.
