Fernie’s local farmers’ market is back this summer! Kicking off July 4th, the Fernie Mountain Market will be open every Sunday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm until September 5th.

2021 marks the 18th year of the market, which takes place annually in Rotary Park. It provides locals and visitors alike an unparalleled opportunity to meet local growers and purchase all kinds of delicious produce and prepared food.

At the Fernie Mountain Market, you can expect to find fresh, hand-picked fruit, vegetables, herbs, flowers, and even locally-raised meat.

Meanwhile, attendees looking for some breakfast can frequent the bakers’ stalls, featuring everything from croissants and cookies to berry pies and homemade bread.

In recent years, the Fernie Mountain Market has also been home to several food trucks. This makes the market a great place to grab some lunch and have an impromptu picnic in the park. Food truck vendors vary, but in the past, they have included the likes of Flippin Crepes, which serves up fresh crepes on the spot.

You’ll also find local artisans selling all kinds of unique gift items, such as jewellery, soap, and artwork.

In general, you can expect everything for sale at this Fernie farmers’ market to be made, baked, or grown locally in Fernie.

Though the market is only scheduled to go until Labour Day weekend, they already have a special one-day market event planned for September 13th at the Fall Fair in City Hall.

As with all events taking place during the pandemic, patrons are encouraged to wear masks or face coverings, maintain a physical distance of six feet from those outside their household, and sanitize their hands as much as possible (there will be sanitization stations set up throughout the market).

If it’s fresh strawberries, carrots, pie, or a bouquet of flowers you’re after, look no further than the Fernie Mountain Market.

If you plan on visiting Fernie this summer, then be sure to plan a visit to this outdoor Sunday market. And if you need a place to stay during your visit, we’d love to host you at the Fernie Stanford Resort. We combine comfortable accommodation and family-friendly amenities with a scenic alpine location and unbeatable prices.
