The Fernie Ghostriders have returned for the 2021-22 season, and we couldn’t be more excited!

For those that don’t know, the Fernie Ghostriders are Fernie’s own KIJHL Junior Hockey Team. They are a Junior B Hockey Team playing in the Eddie Mountain Division of the Kootenay International Junior Ice Hockey League.

The current coach is Jeff Wagner, and the team got their name from the shadow that forms at sunset on Mt Hosmer in Fernie.

The Ghostriders season takes place all fall and winter long, with games scheduled throughout October, November, December, January, and February (the play-off season begins in mid-February).

Games generally take place on Friday and Saturday nights, with a few exceptions. For example, the upcoming schedule includes games on Friday, October 29th, Saturday, October 30th, Friday, November 12th, Saturday, November 20th, and Saturday, November 27th.

Puck drop is at 7:30 pm and entry costs just $11 for adults and $6 for seniors and students.

Attending a Ghostrider game is a popular pastime among locals and tourists alike. Beyond the game itself, there are always concession stands, beverage gardens, merchandise booths, and special events like 50/50 raffles, teddy bear tosses, shootout challenges, and diamond ring prize draw games.

As with all Fernie events, they are subject to provincial health guidelines. COVID-19 safety protocols must be followed at all times.

Tickets can be purchased in advance on the Fernie Ghostriders’ official website. Grab your tickets while you still can!

If you plan on visiting Fernie this fall or winter, then we highly recommend purchasing a ticket to a Fernie Ghostriders game (it’s like a rite of passage here in Fernie). And if you need a place to stay during your visit, we’d love to have you at the Fernie Stanford Resort. We combine a gorgeous alpine location and family-friendly amenities (including a pool and waterslide) with a delicious complimentary breakfast, rooms and suites of all sizes, and affordable prices.
