Winter is an ideal time to find adventure in Fernie. While the alpine setting is always spectacular, the winter months bring another level of fun and magic to Fernie. If you’re looking for an activity with a bit of a twist, you’re sure to find something here. Here are some upcoming choices for your next day or night out.

Stargazing Snowshoe Fondue

If you’re looking for something unique to do on Valentine’s Day, the Stargazing Snowshoe Fondue is an intriguing choice. Part constellation gazing, part dessert, and part outdoor activity, this event is a romantic outing like no other. Happening on February 14th at 7pm in Mount Fernie Provincial Park, the Stargazing Snowshoe Fondue takes participants on a snowshoeing trek under the ‘Snow Moon’ and is followed by a delectable chocolate fondue.  

Family Day Week - Night Skiing On The Mighty Moose

Whether you’re an avid night skiier or have never really tried it out before, this event is the perfect opportunity to get out and have some fun under the stars with the family. From February 15th to the 21st the Mighty Moose lift will be open and the slope will be illuminated from 4pm to 9pm for families to come out and enjoy. Daytime lift tickets will get you into the evening skiing too, or you can purchase tickets from the Fernie Alpine Resort Rental Shop. Prices are $21.95 + tax for adults and free for those 17 and under.

Community Fun Nordic Race at Elk Valley Nordic Centre

Those with a competitive spirit will likely enjoy this event put on by the Nordic Society. This event is free for both members and non-members and is open to skiers of all abilities. There will be relay races, solo races and adult-child races. There will also be food available by donation so that you can recharge after some vigorous activity..
