You don’t often see outdoor enthusiasts seeking indoor activities, but when you do, the Fernie Mountain Film Festival may very well be where they're going. This year is the 14th run of the festival and it’s sure to be every bit as enthralling and informative as it has always been.

The festival focuses on filmmakers who celebrate mountain culture, global adventurers, and delicate environments. While the films and schedules have yet to be announced for 2020, each year a selection of the finest cinematic offerings, featuring the wonders of the great outdoors, are chosen to be screened at the festival. Exacting and careful consideration is given to choosing a wide range of films covering diverse topics such as eco travel, rock climbing, preservation of fragile ecosystems, and community building in remote regions of the world.

Tickets will be available online through the festival website. Alternately, attendees can pick up their tickets offline at the College of the Rockies or at the door. Cost of admission have yet to be announced, but as in previous years, those who want to attend will have the choice of purchasing a ticket for either a Friday or Saturday night showing or an all access pass for both days of screenings. Kids 15 years and under are admitted for free. Every attendee gets a complimentary bag of popcorn to enjoy with their flick and are eligible to enter a contest to win some fabulous prizes.

As with any important event, there is also a party to look forward to. The Mountain Social brings everything and everyone together to celebrate the spirit of this film festival. At the party local fare will be served, in addition to wine, water and beer from the Fernie Brewing Company.

While taking in the finest selections of cinematic presentations of mountain culture, you'll want to seek out wonderfully comfortable accommodations in Fernie.
