Whether you’re a snowboarder yourself or just love watching others excel at the sport, the Monster Energy BoarderStyle event is a must attend event. Happening March 15 and 16 at the Fernie Alpine Resort, it’s sure to be a high energy weekend with tons of jaw dropping excitement.

Created by Monster Energy Canada, this event has broken away from its experimental roots and is now a full fledged tour. There’s big prize money on the line too and more jaw dropping competition than you can hope for. The course includes: jibs, jumps, berms, rollers, pond-skims, spines and step-ups.

The boarderstyle competition is a hybrid boardercross, slopestyle obstacle course which involves four competitors running through the course at the same time. A table-top jump, on which competitors must perform a full rotation trick, finishes the run. While finishing ahead of the competition definitely counts, those who are deemed to have performed a better trick than competitors who finished ahead of them can be bumped up by the judges.

The competition is all snowboarding and is open (and free) to all competitors who can ride competently. There are categories for both male and female riders. Attendees can look forward to an amazing party too. Monster DJs will be on hand at every stop to keep the energy pumping.

March 15 is the day to see the crazy qualifier action. On the 16 the competition gets extra intense with the finals. Even better, once the top boarder has been singled out, it’s onto the after party.

So, if you’re heading to town to see some super charged snowboarding competition and are looking for accomodation in Fernie, be sure to check out the Fernie Stanford Resort. Situated in a stunning alpine setting, the Stanford Resort offers award winning dining, spacious rooms, condos and townhouses, an aquatic center, and much more.
