Another year of school has come and gone and the kids will soon be climbing the walls. Not to worry though; there’s plenty to do in and around Fernie. There are several special events set up just for the kiddos. If you reach your wits end and are in need of some ideas, here are a couple of activities to check out.

Griz Kidz Summer Carnival

Scheduled to happen on July 20 from 11am to 3pm at the Fernie Alpine Resort, the Griz Kids Summer Carnival is sure to draw an energetic crowd. There will be free fun for all ages here. No matter the age of the kids, there should be something for everyone to enjoy. Carnival games and arts and crafts will keep little hands busy. There will also be face painting, balloon animals and popcorn to complete the carnival atmosphere.

Griz Kidz Nature Hike, Pool Party & BBQ

If you want to drop the kids off and have someone else wear them out for a while then the Griz Kids Nature Hike, Pool Party & BBQ is an ideal choice. The event starts with a 1 hour guided hike. Then kids get to cool off at an outdoor pool party before refueling at a delicious BBQ dinner. Happening every Saturday throughout the summer, the activities are fully supervised and give the kids a chance to kick back without the parents. The event is open to kids 6 years of age and older. The cost is $24.50 + tax for kids 12 and under and $31.40 + tax for kids 13 and up.

Splish, Splash, Sploosh

This free event, hosted by the Fernie Heritage Library, is set to take place on July 25 at the Fernie Aquatic Centre Splash Park from 3pm to 5pm. The kids are sure to burn off some energy here. There will be bubbles, children’s DJs playing some rockin’ tunes, tons of friends and, of course, plenty of water to splash in. It’s sure to be a lively event for everyone. Make sure to come prepared though; Splish, Splash, Sploosh is a popular activity in town and is often very hot. Bring along towels, sunscreen and something to keep hydrated.

If you’re going to be in the area with the kids be sure to check out one or all of these events. Also, if you’re in need of comfortable accommodation in Fernie, look no further than the Fernie Stanford Resort. There’s no better place to unwind at the end of a busy day.
