Imagine spending a tranquil day on the links on a warm summer day, Then picture the whole scene set in the heart of the stunning Canadian Rockies. It can be more than just a dream. Starting on July 3rd, Fernie Golf Club is celebrating their 100th anniversary and everyone’s invited.

100 years is a big deal, so the festivities will be drawn out over four days. The celebrations kick off with a special ladies league event on the 3rd. 5:30 pm is tee off time and it’s a blind partner play game. There is also a wind-up dinner on this evening to honour the women who have been an integral part of the club over the years. Golf participants are encouraged to wear historical golfing apparel.

On July 4th it’s the guys’ turn. It will be a four-man team and lone wolf shotgun game with another 5:30 pm tee off time. Participants have the opportunity to take part in several ‘100’ themed contests including a number of par 3 100 yard holes, 100 putting contests, and a prize for the closest score to 100.  

July 5th is the day to pay homage to those who have long been supporters of the golf club. It will be known as the Tony Servello Senior Open and will be a 10 am shotgun. June 24th is the entry deadline for this match.

Saturday, July 7th is a big celebration. There will be a centennial open house beginning at 1 pm. Activities during the open house include Fernie Golf Club's historical exhibit titled, Honouring the Past, Welcoming the Future, free golfing and free use of clubs for anyone who wants to try out the sport, free golf games for families and for kids, free golf cart tours (running every 30 minutes), and much more. The festivities wrap up with a BBQ dinner in honour of those who created the club.
