He’s currently riding high on the big screen in his latest flick, The Commuter, but later this year Hollywood stalwart Liam Neeson will be starring alongside Fernie, BC, on the silver screen.
 
Because last spring the Hollywood big guy was in town to film Hard Powder with Emmy Rossum. And while he was filming, he found Fernie’s charms hard to resist – and he jumped at the opportunity to go fly fishing with the Elk River Guiding Co. before leaving town!
 
For the film, crews transformed the gorgeous town of Fernie into a fictitious town named Kehoe, Colorado. The majority of the filming for the movie took place at the Fernie Alpine Resort and Historic Downtown Fernie.
 
Neeson plays a snowplow driver whose son is murdered. He seeks revenge and takes out the local drug cartel and its kingpin who are responsible – which ultimately sparks a turf war.
 
Based on the 2014 Norwegian film In Order of Disappearance staring Stellan Skarsgård, Hard Powder is directed by Norwegian Hans Petter Moland.
 
The film is produced by Michael Shamberg (Django Unchained, Pulp Fiction) for StudioCanal, the European studio that previously made Neeson’s hit action flick, Non-Stop. 
 
Currently in post production, Hard Powder is set to hit screens across Canada later this year.
