Love to dance? Well, even if you don’t, consider doing it for one day. It’s time to come out and shake it for a good cause. Whether you’ve got the rhythm in you or not, the Freedom Canada Dance-A-Thon is coming to Fernie and is well worth the effort.

Happening on August 24 at Rotary Park in Fernie, the Freedom Canada Dance-A-Thon is a charity event that’s also taking place in a variety of other communities across Canada. The event was started to raise awareness and money to fight worldwide human trafficking issues. Organized by Om Canada, all proceeds raised at the event (registration and sponsorship funds) will go towards prevention, development, rescue and restoration projects.

There will be much to do at the event, which runs from 11am to 11pm. There will, of course, be a lot of dancing, but there will also be bands, food, drinks, and prizes. Each category will have two grand prizes—one for the longest standing dancers and another for the most financial sponsorship raised.

The categories for the event are: corporate or group (maximum 6 people), families, couples, and singles. Registrations prices are: corporate/groups - $150, families - $75, couples - $50, and singles - $30. For those registered as a family, the family portion of the event runs from 11am to 5pm. Contact Ramona Gliege on Facebook to register.
