The Fernival is back for another year on April 12th and 13th, 2014. Fernival, which is known as “the biggest free party in the Rockies” is back for another year of fun, music and activities! Located at Fernie Alpine Resort, participants and spectators alike will take in free musical acts, view zany extreme sports events such as the Raging Elk Powder Pedal Paddle relay race and the Coca Cola Slope Soaker and more!

Here’s some more info on some the Fernival events:
Raging Elk Powder Pedal Paddle Relay Race
Saturday, April 12
A Fernie staple since 1984, the PPP is an exciting multi-person (2-5) team race by ski, boat, and foot in and around Fernie. The race starts on the slopes at 11:00 at the top of Bear Chair, with the first teams arriving at around 5:30 pm. After live music from headlining band Chilliwack, awards will be presented!
Coca Cola Slope Soaker
Sunday, April 13
Thought it always looked cool when skiers on extreme sports television (or, more recently, on youtube) glided effortlessly over water at the base of a mountain? Well, if you’re feeling gutsy enough, you can try it for yourself! Anyone over 12 years old is welcome to participate, but sign up early, as only the first 75 registrants will be allowed to participate! Of course, if you simply want to spectate, you’re more than welcome to do that as well. Proceeds from this event will be donated to Fernie Search & Rescue.
Throughout the weekend, free live entertainment will be provided by musical acts Daniel Wesley, The Dudes and Chilliwack. Grab a beer or a pop and enjoy the entertainment!
After a few tough (and potentially wet) days of fun and entertainment, rest up at the Fernie Stanford Resort, where a comfortable, modern room will be waiting for you. Planning on staying for a while? Check out our extended stay options.
