It’s hard to believe, but it’s almost Fernival time again. If you’ve never been to Fernival you don’t know what you’re missing. The celebration is Fernie Alpine Resort’s closing weekend wrap-up event and it’s a non stop good time.

This year is the eleventh annual Fernival event and it’s going down on April 13 and 14. Take advantage of this last opportunity to get in on the skiing and snowboarding action.

Lifts open at 9am on both days and will run until 4pm. On the 13th at 11am the ever popular Raging Elk Powder Pedal Paddle Relay Race will get underway. Teams (1-5 people) take part in a relay race that incorporates skiing, biking, paddling, and running.

The party really gets going at 12pm when the Kokanee Event Gardens open in the Plaza. At 2pm visitors can take in Local Punk Legends and The Runs and at 3:30pm they can continue the celebration with A Rockin' Roll Salute, BC/DC.

On the 14th be sure to get there early and get a prime seat for the Coca Cola Slope Soaker. Entrants try their best to make it across the Slope Soaker pond on either skis or a snowboard. Participants also dress in all kinds of crazy costumes for the wet and wild contest. Entrants are entered into the draw for prizes from the event’s sponsors too. The splashtacular fun gets going at 1pm.

At 3pm the festival headliner, Five Alarm Funk is set to put on a lively show to close out the weekend and the snow season. It’s sure to be another event to remember.

Anyone looking for accomodation in Fernie for this or any other event should be sure to check out the offerings at the Fernie Stanford Resort. With spectacular alpine views, spacious rooms, friendly staff, and all the amenities you could possibly need the resort is the perfect place to top off an incredible weekend.
