Taking place on Saturday April 14 and Sunday April 15, ‘Fernival’ is Fernie Alpine Resort’s unmissable closing weekend celebration.

This marks this unique event’s 10th anniversary, so it’s sure to be a great one. And there are plenty of excuses to go a little crazy at Fernival. Here are just three of them…

1. Because the Headline Act is Amazing

The headline band for the weekend is Nova Scotia’s Sloan Music, who will be stopping by as part of their 20th anniversary tour! They have 30 singles and nine Juno Award nominations to their name, so you’d be a little crazy to miss the show. Taking place in the plaza on Saturday April 14, the concert is completely free.

2. Because it’s not just About Skiing

A true Fernie tradition will be taking place at 11am on Saturday, April 14. The Raging Elk Powder Pedal Paddle Relay Race has been going strong for more than 30 years, encouraging teams of two to five people to ski, bike, paddle and then run in a fun relay race—all followed by a barbecue in the plaza while Sloan Music performs. Costumes are encouraged, so go on—have some fun!

3. Because People are going to get Seriously Soaked

The Slope Soaker is set to take place on Sunday, April 15. This legendary event sees mostly-costumed adventurers grab their skis or snowboards and see if they can make it across the chilly waters of the Slope Soaker pond. It’s all good fun and extra prizes and points are awarded for creative costumes, effort, crowd reaction and biggest splash!

After all the craziness of a day at Fernival, Fernie Stanford Waterslide Resort is a perfect place to chill out. Boasting some amazing views of the mountains and the Elk River, the resort really helps guests to unwind. From private condos and townhouses to spacious hotel rooms and loft-style suites, Fernie Stanford Waterslide Resort is a great place to relax after a day of Fernival craziness.
