If you’ve always wanted to jump-start your creativity, but haven’t yet figured out where to start, the Fernie Arts Station may have the solution for you.
The Arts Station is the creative hub of the town. For those who aren’t already aware, if there’s something artistic going on in the Fernie area, the Station probably has a hand in it. Fernie is a vibrantly creative community and the Station is the place to go to get involved in that imaginative and innovative spirit.
There are all kinds of activities happening at the Fernie Arts Station, but for those who are just starting to dip their toes into the creative pool, there are two ongoing events to be aware of.
Every Monday night from 7 pm to 9 pm over the winter,
Station Theatre
is the place to be for budding and seasoned thespians. Whether you’re interested in acting, production, backstage or front of house, Station Theatre has something for you. No experience is necessary; all that they ask is that you be excited to learn.
Similarly, every Wednesday night over the course of the winter, the Station hosts classes and workshops featuring local artists offering inspiration to budding artists. There is
open studio time
from 7 pm to 9 pm on these evenings. Just bring your art supplies (any medium is welcome) and come meet some like-minded people to engage in a stimulating exchange of ideas. Current and past workshops include sculpting, pottery making, painting, drawing, drama, creative writing, film-making and so much more!
Both events are free to those with an Arts Station membership. Those without a membership can attend for a $5 fee.
If you’re planning a visit to British Columbia and are looking for
accommodation in the Fernie area
, there’s no better choice than the Fernie Stanford Resort. With breathtaking Alpine views, friendly staff, spacious rooms, suites and condos, an award-winning restaurant, a giant waterslide, and complimentary breakfast, this is the place to be when you’re in town.
