Dirty Dancer Banked Slalom Offers Spectacular Boarding Action

If snowboarding is your passion, Fernie, BC is where you should be on March 28 and 29. That’s when the Dirty Dancer Banked Slalom is taking place this year and it’s set to be as epic as always.

The event celebrates snowboarding culture and everything shredders have had to overcome to become revered titans of the hill. There was a time not so long ago when snowboarders were unwelcome ski hill guests. Dirty Dancer Banked Slalom honours the hard-won victory.

This event has been in place for several years and has become so popular that it was extended from a one-day to a two-day event. The slalom course runs through Dancer Gully in Lizard Bowl. All ages are welcome, but it is recommended that boarders be of intermediate skill level or higher to take part.

The categories for the event are Open Grom (under 14 years men and women), Open Youth (ages 15-18 men and women), Open Adult (men and women), Pro (men and women), and Pro Masters (40+). 

The open categories are for intermediate riders who are still building their skills. Pro categories are for experienced riders who want to assert their clout. There are no official regulations for which category riders should place themselves in, but the hope is that registrants will honestly assess their skill level and register for the appropriate category group they belong in.

There will be many prizes up for grabs for the top placers and also some amazing draw prizes. There must be at least four riders in a category for the race to proceed. Also, if a category has too many registrants, the category may be split up into groups. Registration for the event is now open and typically fills up fast.
