In July 2009 the International League of Conservation Photo (ILPC) came to the Flathead Valley to capture, through photos, the essence of this stunning, unprotected landscape of great significance. Join us on December 31 when the top photographers of the project will be unveiled in the gallery at the Arts Station. It will be followed by a party & include music, dancing, a pot luck, and cash bar at 8:00 p.m. - $10 donation appreciated.

The Stanford Resort Fernie Hotel would like to welcome you and your family to our annual traditional Christmas dinner. Leave all the fuss and preparation of a roast turkey dinner to our talented chefs while you sit back and relax in the warmth of our resort, sharing Christmas Day with the ones you love. 

Dinner will be served on December 25th starting at 5:00 p.m. at the Fernie Stanford Resort. Be sure to bring your appetite, as our delicious traditional roast turkey dinner includes all the fixings, just like your grandmother used to make. Everyone is welcome so please bring the whole family and join us for this memorable celebration.

 

$19.95 for adults and $9.95 for children 12 and under. Reservations should be made as soon as possible, and can be made by calling 250-423-5000, or via email.

Christmas at the Arts Station

Thursday December 10 at 7:30pm

Celebrate the Christmas season this year with the Station Players’ production of “The Star Tree” by Giselle Cole. This year’s 1 hour performance includes the Station Strings & Christmas carolling with an opportunity for the audience to join in at the end of the performance.

Please bring a non-perishable food item for the Salvation Army Food Bank.

Tickets at the door - $5.00 for adults, $2.00 for children under 12.

Doors open at 7:15

 

Charlie Brown’s Christmas Pageant

Friday December 18th

Shows at 5:00pm and 6:30pm.

Help Charlie Brown find the True Meaning of the Season. Join him and his gang on their adventures as they get ready for Christmas. For parents and children over the age of 4.

Presented by Freckles Children’s Theatre.

Tanglefoot Farewell Performance

Tanglefoot has been described as “Stan Rogers meets Van Halen,” but truth be told, this unique Canadian folk-rock group defies description and must be heard to be understood. Having been part of the Canadian folk scene for 25 years, Tanglefoot has forged a reputation for exquisite vocal polish, and relentless energy. The five current band members combine their considerable individual musical talents to create melodies and harmonies that are both Canadian and universal.

 

Having produced 6 studio albums, a live CD and DVD, performed at the Vimy Memorial dedication in France, and had one of their albums carried into space by Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield, Tanglefoot is now embarking on their Farewell Tour, and will be performing one of their final shows ever in Fernie. Don’t miss the chance to see these Canadian legends in the flesh for what promises to be a remarkable evening.

Lily String Quartet

Comprised of four vibrant and vital young women, the Lily String Quartet is a dynamic chamber quartet ensemble and a force to behold. Recognized by audiences and critics alike, they are the up and coming ensemble of the 21st Century. Drawn together from such schools of excellence as McGill, Calgary’s Royal Conservatory, the Quebec Conservatoire, and U of T, the Lilly Quartet is dedicated to excellence. They have performed around the country, as well as attending two prestigious summer seminars: the Julliard String Quartet Seminar in New York, and the St. Lawrence String Quartet Seminar at Stanford University in California.

 

The Fernie Stanford Resort is the host hotel for this and all other events at the Arts Station. Whether you’re a Fernie resident or in town for a visit, don’t miss what is sure to be a memorable evening of excellent music.

The Fernie Alpine Ski Team is proud to present their 24th annual ski and snowboard sale at the Fernie Community Centre. Get geared up before the season opens, and then come out in the evening for a screening of Warren Miller’s Dynasty.

 

Filmmaker Warren Miller has become a legend in the ski and snowboard community with his stunning documentaries that showcase some of the world’s best skiers and boarders on some of the planet’s most spectacular slopes. For his 60th anniversary Warren Miller brings us Dynasty, a celebration of the past, present, and future of winter sport.

 

Tickets: $2, or $5 for a family.

Whether you live in Fernie or are just in town for a visit, treat yourself to a great night out with the Ghost Riders, Fernie’s Junior hockey team. The Canadian Junior hockey program is the best in the world, producing five consecutive World Junior Championship gold medals, so while the ticket prices might not be big-league, you know the on-ice action will be!
