It’s time to get your bike tuned up, summer mountain biking at Fernie Alpine Resort is just around the corner! With a preview weekend June 23/24th, and the official season opening on June 29th there’s just a few short weeks before a summer-long season of excitement begins. New for 2012 are a number of upgrades to the trails. Lower Mountain upgrades include lengthening Deer Trail, Lower Canada Cup, and Top Gun so as to accommodate the Aerials Park. There will also be berms and rollers added to the flat sections, and a large rebuild of the bridge.
Ben’s Big Rig has had an upper section added, thus doubling the length of the trail, while the new Cedar Trail single-track provides beginners with an option to ride a single-track through old growth cedar forest before rejoining the existing Cedar Trail road.
The Phat Larry’s trail will have both rebuilt bridges a short re-route section. Boom, Cedar,Larch, View, and Hobbits are now open to hiking traffic from the Elk Chairlift
A dog-friendly zone has been established on the Silk and Manchuria trails, as well as a new hiking option from Polar Peak to Fernie Provincial Park. For more trail information have a look at their trail information page
